JMEC - Bringing Together Holistic Thinkers Who Think Broadly

A recent discussion threat launched by our JMEC 9 Alumni Terry Wilson on the JMEC Alumni Forum on linked-in, shared a recent article of the New York Times, published on January 10, 2010 entitled "Multicultural Critical Theory. At B-School?". The article focuses on the importance of learning how to think critically - how to imaginatively frame questions and consider multiple aspects. Mr. Roger Martin, the new dean at the Rotman School of Management, describes his goal as a kind of "liberal arts MBA". "The liberal arts desire," he says, is to produce "holistic thinkers who think broadly..."

Since inception, JMEC has focused on infusing creative and critical thinking skills to the program participants, attracting project clients who are looking for alternative avenues and opportunities in the Japanese market. By teaming up a diverse range of qualified, multinational professionals, participants learn by doing to support and challenge each other. As a result, project clients receive comprehensive business plans outlining unique approaches on how to penetrate the Japanese market. According to Terry "this ability to collaboratively approach problems in new, wider ways, is one of the greatest strengths of the holistic JMEC program that continues to benefit me 15 years later. What a difference the JMEC program has made in developing my ability to effectively lead a team to improve bottom-line results!"
