First Key Speaker Lecture at Apple Store Ginza a Success

What do a CEO, a child and YOU have in common?
ALL want to make their message memorable!

Introducing Key Speaker at Apple Store Ginza Kicking off JMEC’s open Key Speaker series 2010, William Reed outlined the three secrets to making your message memorable to an audience of over 60 individuals at the Apple Store in Ginza on February 3rd, 2010.

First, regardless of what your message is, if no one has access to it, you might as well not have one. It is key to have a platform that suits you and your message. Keep in mind that there are various ways to absorb a message; some like to see it, some like to hear it, some like to feel it, some need to try it. Try to tailor your message to include the different types.Speaker William Reed

“How?” you may ask. Memory is sticky stuff. As a student you may have used crib sheets to help you remember history dates (ex: In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue). The same applies to your message. As the second secret, William recommends using Chip & Dan Heath’s “SUCCESs” model from their book “Made to Stick”. SUCCESs stands for Simple, Unexpected, Credible, Concrete, and Emotional Stories. If you deliver your point in this format, your audience will remember your message.

To further enhance your personal branding, marketing and business plans, implement a process that works. This includes asking better questions. Ask open ended questions. Try to put yourself in the shoes of your target audience for further insight. Also, follow the found money. If you have identified a successful source of income, explore it further. And finally, have a marketing plan and revise it according to your findings and feedback from your target audience.

The one hour lecture was followed by an informal social networking event. Over food and drinks, new connections were made and attendees had a chance to talk further with the speaker.
